What Causes a Holocaust?

"A terrible episode happened with Mrs. Grynberg. The Ukrainians and Germans, who had broken into her house, found her giving birth. The weeping and entreaties of bystanders didn't help and she was taken from her home in a nightshirt and dragged into the square in front of the town hall. There … she was dragged onto a dumpster in the yard of the town hall with a crowd of Ukraininans present, who cracked jokes and jeered and watched the pain of childbirth and she gave birth to a child. The child was immediately torn from her arms along with its umbilical cord and thrown — It was trampled by the crowd and she was stood on her feet as blood poured out of her with bleeding bits hanging and she stood that way for a few hours by the wall of the town hall, afterwards she went with all the others to the train station where they loaded her into a carriage in a train to Belzec [extermination camp]."


I have begun this article with the above description of humanity in action not to nauseate my readers, but to make a desperate point.  When I read about this woman what flashed into my mind was this picture.....
 






Citizens of Ramallah cheer the men who tore two Israelis, who had driven into Ramallah by accident, to pieces with their bare hands.  The building in which this took place was the Ramallah police station.

Stomping on a new born baby until you've killed it; tearing strangers to pieces with your bare hands and gloating about it.   These are acts perpetrated by  humans.   The humans may well be filled with demons and doubtless are serving the will of the devil himself, but it was human hands and feet that did this.

The Egyptians were human when they threw babies into the Nile to be crocodile food.  The Romans were human when they enjoyed watching every possible form of death and mutilation of human flesh in their amphitheatres for entertainment.  Isis fighters are fully human as they decapitate, burn alive, crucify, rape and eat men, women and children.

The Nazis, the Egyptians, the Romans and the Muslims all have justified this kind of gross evil in their belief systems.

Two codes call it WRONG.   The conscience and the Bible.  The author of both is the Lord God who created heaven and earth........ and men.

In the Bible God describes the hatred of the Edomites towards Israel in numerous places.  In Amos 1:10-11 it is written, "Thus says the Lord, "For three transgression of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment, because he pursued his brother with the sword and cast off all pity;  his anger tore perpetually, and he kept his wrath forever." 

When I started writing today I was thinking about this kind of hatred and connecting it to the Jewish holocaust.   This is the kind of hatred the Egyptians had and the Ukrainians. (Many still have it.)  The hatred the Ramallians have. It is  the hatred Isis and every true muslim has towards Jews and Christians and everyone else but themselves.  It is the hatred the gays and lesbians have for anyone who is not one of them.

Hatred is evil and it grows like a living bacteria; flourishing in the right condition....tolerance.  Only when it is dealt with ruthlessly and not tolerated, excused, or fed, will it die.

The western world has chosen to become a vast petri dish of tolerance  and it is raising a bumper crop of hatred and evil.  Another holocaust is in full gear all across the Muslim nations while the western world tolerates it, excuses it, and empowers it.


I thank God I serve the one who does not tolerate hatred or evil.
